Bastar is a district in the state of Chhattisgarh. The district headquarters is Jagdalpur. The People in this district are followed by Odia culture. Bastar is famous for traditional Dasara festival.
The area is call it as Traditionally Dandakaranya in the Mahabharata, Nala king was ruled by Bastar in 450 AD. The state of Bastar formed in the year of 1324 AD to 1369 then followed by Hamir Deva 1369 to 1410 like this so many persons are ruled the Bastar. The fourth generation Prataparaja Deva, Rajapala Deva became the next King in 1709. Rajapala deva had two wives, first a Baghela Princess, second Chandela Princess. Baghela princess had one son his name was Dakhin singh, Chandela Princess had two son’s their name was Dalapati Deva and Pratap.
The district was divided into 3 districts in the year 1999 namely as Bastar, Dantewada and Kanker one more district divided in the year 2012 named as Kandagaon.
The Major Tribals in the Bastar district is Gond. The Gond’s are most famous Tribals in India because of their unique Ghotul system of marriages and Gond’s are largest population tribal group of central India. The most of the Tribals still living in deep forests and they are making beautiful toys of Tribals gods, oil lamps animals and carts.
