Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

It is the public-private partnership venture in the Indian airports and is being rated as the sixth busiest airports in India in terms of in international and overall passenger traffic for the year of 2010-2011.Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has two terminals one is Domestic, which connects to the local flights that are from India only like Air India, Air India Regional, IndiGo Airlines, SpiceJet etc. depart and arrive here. The other is International, which connects to different flights from different parts of the world. The other facilities those are available at airport are F & B, Car Parking, Lounge, Hotel Teleservices, Wi-Fi Facility, Foreign Exchange, Medical Centre, ATM Services, Book Stores, Hotel Booking Counters, Radio Taxi, Baggage Wrapping Services, Travel Service counters and Fuel Station.
 
RGIA is a joint venture company promoted by the GMR Group (63%) in partnership with government of India (13%), government of Andhra Pradesh (13%) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (11%). The project is based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and is structured on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
 
The airport was commissioned in a record time of 31 months. It has an initial capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and 100,000 tons of cargo handling per annum. And it also has the flexibility to increase capacity to accommodate up to 40 MPPA.

RGIA is located strategically at the geographical centre of India. Hyderabad is well positioned, that within a two hour flying time to all the major cities in India and a four hour radius from all major cities in the Middle East and South East Asia. Thus, it has the potential to become one of the main air travel hubs in India, and also an important center for destination-cum-transit location for travel between the East and the West. At present there are 11 international and 9 domestic airlines operating from Hyderabad flying to over 35 destinations.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has also become the major tourist attractions of Hyderabad and is one of the biggest airports in Asia.
