Rashtrapati Nilayam is known to be the residential house of the President of India. It is located in outskirts of Hyderabad in a place called Bolarum. The building was constructed in the year 1850 by Nizam Nazir ud Doula and was used by Military Officer of the Nizam government in that period of time and later it was taken by the British on an understanding with Nizam government.Rashtrapati Nilayam spread across 90 acres of land.
Rashtrapati Nilayam spread across 90 acres of land is a 16-room estate consisting of single storied building besides visitors’ quarters that can accommodate 150 people. It also includes Dining Hall, Darbar Hall, Morning room, Cinema Hall etc. and is hosted by president of India during their visit to south India.
Rashtrapati Nilayam also included with Herbal Garden, inaugurated in December 2009 constitutes 116 species of medicinal and aromatic plants and is spread over 7,000 square metres like Sarpgandha, Kalabandha, Citronella, Lemon Grass, Khus, Geranium, Coriander, Sandalwood, Tuber Rose, Jasmine, Kalmegh, Tulsi, Isbgol, etc.
These plants can be used for natural home remedial cure for a variety of diseases and also have solar lighting system, drip irrigation, percolation ponds to ensure efficient use of natural resources. This Nilayam is open to public from 2011 by the decision of Pratibha Patil, former president of India.
