Ravindra Bharathi is an Auditorium that is established in Hyderabad for serving the cultural needs of the state. Dr. B. Gopal Reddy, former chief minister of India laid the foundation stone in 1960 and was inaugurated in the year 1961 by Dr. S.Radhakrishnan, former President of India in the memory of late Sri. Rabindranath Tagore, the first Nobel laureate from Asia.Different types of Events are held in the Ravindra Bharath.
Different types of Events are held in the Ravindra Bharathi which includes Cultural programmes like Dance Drama, Dance Performance by Amateurs and Classic Music performances by Invitations. Cine related programmes like Cinema 100 days celebrations, Cinema Abhinandana Sabha, Cinema Awards, Meetings, Conferences and TV Shootings and other programmes like Amateur programs, Programmes of Schools and Colleges, Government Programs, other private programmes.
Speaking about the features of the Auditorium, the base area of the building is 2,295 Square Yards with a seating capacity of 1104 seats and has a well-equipped sound reinforcement system with 12 channels for microphones with loud speakers distributed over entire auditorium and also provided with set of painted curtains, side-wings with rotatory movement, quick change of scenes too. There is a mini theatre in the second floor with fully- equipped green room and adequate sound system with seating capacity of 100 seats. The first floor is hosted by an exhibition –cum-conference hall. It is administrated by the Department of Culture established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1981. In the year 2005 the Auditorium was renovated with an amount of 1.5 crores.
